With all due respect to the late Lady Bird Johnson and her family, I prefer to call it the Colorado River. Just like I prefer to call it First Street instead of Cesar Chavez. I don’t understand why people feel the need to change the name of something. Why not just do something new?

Because I’ve been near/to/in/around/the groom in one. I’d be standing up there, sweating in my stiff white collar, looking out across chlorinated water at perfectly-mown zoysiagrass. So close to the cool of the pool or the sublime goodness of playing a few twilight holes at Cordillera Ranch. That’s the first tee there.

…bentgrass, that is. A blend of Crenshaw and L-93. That’s what’s on all the greens at Comanche Trace. This guy was the 5th green of the new nine. Not sure what kind, but only about eight inches long, and obviously non-venomous.
